My theory is that as soon as egg travelled back for the first time, the timeline was spilt in two. One with the egg to help stop the calamity, and one without. The one with egg was successful in stopping the calamity (this being the timeline we just had in age of calamity) and the one without the egg failed to stop the calamity, resulting in BOTW and presumably BOTW2 meaning that there were two versions of age of calamity in two different timelines with one having ended after age of calamity and there won't be any games in that timeline again, and the other being the failed attempt, resulting in BOTW, it's sequel, and other games that come out after that
