Bravo! I despise this renaming trend. Queer was always a slur and if you lived thru that, it always will be. Similarly, do not call me a cis woman. I’ve spent 70 years on this planet. I have always been a girl/woman. Do not preempt that. I’m a woman. Period.

Okay, I have been thinking this exact thing. The Q-word was an awful slur against gays when gays were fighting for a seat at the table. WHY has it suddenly become okay? No, never, nada should it ever be used!

My flag is LGBT and I fly the original Pride Flag. Don't call me QUEER. I am a homosexual MAN. "Queerlettes" is a great way to describe the hijackers.

To me Queer is basically one step away from F__. I barely feel comfortable even spelling it out, where as F__ I won't. It's a fine line, but it's still a line. People embracing this new thing that was almost exclusively a slur for decades and decades are wild.

Thank you!! I am a straight woman who had many gay friends in the early '90s during college, and the "Q" word was not spoken with love. Even now, it makes me so uncomfortable to hear it. I can still see the brief wave of hurt and sadness when my friends heard that word.

Thank you! I have had this conversation with several "older gays" and we abhor the fact that the younger generation keep using the Q word.

I vividly remember people started saying “queer” bc “gay” was no longer PC to use as an insult. Queer always meant weird prior to it meaning gay.

Queer was defined as odd, strange or out of the ordinary (in bad way). Why would you want to be called "queer".

I’ve often wondered how this term became acceptable.

I am not queer and I am not LGBT. I am GAY! It took my a long time to be able to say, own and have pride in that! If inclusion means erasing away my experience, I am not here for it!

People like this man actually suffered from oppression… kids today get looked at the wrong way and they can’t take it

Self-appointed spokespeople for the queer movement will tell you that "it's old news" and "you just have to get used to it" regarding being called "queer". And they make a point of replacing (and subsuming) the words "lesbian" "gay" "bisexual" "trans" and "kinky" with "queer" every chance they get. Even if you tell them you're not queer and would kindly ask them to be respectful. They're not having that. And this deliberate and malicious mislabeling of people (and appropriating them at the same time) is worse than "misgendering" which is something they claim to be so concerned about.

All my love for this.
I still remember when it was an insulting term & I refuse to use the word because of that.

Being called queer was just the same as being called the f word. That word has never brought fond memories.

Except it isn't polite to ask (more like demand) that someone lie, which is what the pronoun game boils down to. Refusing to play along therefore isn't impolite.

“Queer” loops you in with a ton of other ideologies and political standpoints. I’m just gay. Not “queer.” Lol that doesn’t resonate with me.

The first one is really interesting haha. I feel insecure* not dysphoric about my butt. Brad was right its over trauma & so many people pointing it out over the last almost 10 years. So i don't wear tight pants in public. That doesn't make me """masc"""

It wasn't a complement. How serious of insult varied. But it was never a complement. And nobody even knows what that is supposed to mean now. Everyone knows what gay means. A homosexual. Someone attracted to someone of the same sex. No point in fixing something that isn't broken. Keep it simple. As for respecting pronouns, how do you do that? They have new one every day of the week.

Not gay, not queer, sorry i don't like COMMERCIAL BRAND LABELS AND/OR TAGS. I am just a plain homosexual man.

Not only am I not part of the queer community, I also distance myself strongly against any of those letters after LGB.
