This Week on #PoolGuys, we're following John on a routine Weekly Maintenance run; John cleans and maintains roughly 30-50 pools every week and even more on a bi-weekly and monthly basis. We were able to catch up with him for about an hour to produce this weeks episode and had him explain some of his process and the bioguard chemicals he uses.

I do this for a living chlorine tabs in the skimmer? Tabs have acid that will dissolve in the skimmer while system is off then go straight to the pump when pumps turns back on auto. Acid will damage pump life span.

I never seen a pool guy do a lot of work for a pool before

That is a lot of shock for a pool that has a high chlorine level and also a lot of tabs to be putting in for a high level.

That's very cool
I do pool maintenance in Ghana and your process of maintenance is fantastic

Chlorine powder not dissolved in a bucket could make volé in the liner. You should test the water using a good tool like a palintest.

Great video. What vacuum attachment is that you have in the water? I have one with brushes all around it but I feel those brushes move the fine dirt up and into the water "before" they can be sucked up. I'd rather brush the bottom of the pool one day, then come back and vacuum with a roller type vacuum end that just sucks up the dirt rather than brushes it too.

Do you shock salt pools as your normal routine?

I'm a pool guy in california, every pool I go to I always use the homeowners filter to vacuum their pool, you backwash at least once a month and you will always have a good suction unless you need to open the filter and change the grids which usually happens once maybe twice a year

As a first time pool owner, your videos have helped me understand and learn so much my pool.

Test strips seriously!?😂 You need to up your game and get some dpd. Vinyl liner pools should only ever be treated with liquid chlorine never a granular chlorine you will burn a hole through the liner. And also never put trichlor chlorine tabs in your skimmer they produce acid as a byproduct which is heavier than water and the 16hrs the pumps not running it will drag highly acidic water through the plumbing and pump/filter. Just use a tab floater like a normal person.🤦‍♂️

Hi, do you suggest closing a pool for the winter? I have a new pool and I'm unsure on what to do and not do for the winter.

Hi. I have a question related to adding chemicals to an intex 18 x 52 round saltwater system pool. Is it necessary to add calcium hardness? Currently my hardness is at 0. What will happen if I just leave that alone and don't add in any hardness?

I thought adding chlorine tablets to the skimmer was a big no no?
