Here is the English version of the JP interview:

-How do you access that area?

You will be heading there not directly from the field in Miyazaki 's main story, but by transfer.

The entrance is either a large cracked cocoon, or a withered arm hanging from it, which was the stage of the battle with "Morg, Lord of Blood."

Also, in order to go to the field of this DLC, you need to defeat "Morg, Lord of Blood" and "Radaan, Starbreaker".

I'm happy as a lore enthusiast and theorist. I knew my theory was fairly sound on multiple layers of analysis but Miyazaki saying Radahn is a 'required' boss to access the DLC made me so happy nonetheless.

Miquella needs the damn stars moving before the DLC can get some 'momentum' going after all. The eclipse is not gonna happen without Radahn's defeat ;)

I'm hard at work analyzing the trailer through multiple avenues of exploration before creating the video. I'll finish it by working continuously in about 4 days.

Oh and the timeline of the DLC is just as I surmised 'DURING' the shattering. No timeline movement occurs. I have said this in my DLC prediction video as well.

Stay patient for my coverage and don't go hollow!

Yeah I really hope Miquella isn’t just a reskinned Griffith

Miquella is Mycelia, Helphen's Steeple is Hyphae's Shelter which are Trees, Hyphae (Mycelium threads/fingers) comes from Hephaestus who is a god of fire and our gods of fire are botanical photosynthesis and fungal decomposition creating the right chemistry for fire and thus life on land. Hyphae also means thread, weave, and web in Proto-Euro etymologies. The Primeval Current is the Cosmic Web, Mycelia, Root, and Vascular systems of life and death.

I really hope the St Trina quest line and other cut content from miquella gets added into the game. Also question, wouldn’t it make more sense for miquella to take the form of a moth? Especially with malenia’s goddess form and the connection to the various butterflies? Another banger video my friend. You have been easing this age of hollowing.

Great video! So do think St Trina is a true alter ego ala Radagon/Marika or simply just a disguise like Morgott/Margit?

As a basis, souls games are tragedies rather than comedies. As a rule, Miazaki also takes inspiration from a variety of sources, but causes them to fit within the story he is crafting.

These things being said, Miquella/Trina is almost certain to be more complex than good/bad, or a direct quotation of Griffith.

My prediction will be that Miquella will present an attractive outcome for the Lands Between, but his personal character will be one similar to Griffith's "people are pawns, and my good design justifies their use". This is reinforced by Merika's influence on him as she behaved in much the same way.

I expect that the expansion will provide a Miquella ending as you suggest, and that it will mirror Ranni's thematically. Her quest line is much as I've just described, but she makes sacrifices of her willing personal friends, rather than people she has "compelled the affection of".

In this way, the themes and lore are consistent from a 'Souls perspective, and seem like something George R.R. Martin would put in his work as well.

I've been thinking Miquella will become a mothman looking thing. There's enough hints pointing that way. He, and all those that were looking to achieve a new form, were all wrapped in silk cocoons, like moths. He has a Butterfly symbolic of him, moths and butterflies being similar species. There's also a lot of moth symbolism sprinkled throughout the game, even the wilted lillies of st Trina and Miquella resemble delicate moths landed upon a reed

Really interesting video. To me the Twinbird servants and the Gloam Eyed Queen minions seem two well-differentiated groups, one of them using Ghostflame and the other one using Black Flame. The first flame serves ritualistic purposes (cremation practices) and the second one serves more practical ones but they also seem to be different in their essence. Ghostflame burns the flesh and leaves the spirit, it appears when undead enemies are respawning, so it's associated with rebirth. Black Flame lacks that rebirth quality and it is used to wage a war against the gods, to bring them destined death, ending their cycle and bringing change.

Ghostflame seems to be positively sanctioned by Marika's order, the Walking Mausoleums where the demigods rest are able to discharge Ghostflame, but Black Flame is a taboo and is wielded with the purpose of destroying the actual order. In fact, Those Who Live in Death and Godwyn are to me associated with the Deathbirds for that same reason, because the undead Deathbirds are an opposing force against the ultimate death of the spirit, against the Black Flame. Godwyn has become their unwilling champion and martyr in the war against the Black Flame/Destined Death.

Brilliant stuff, Ontos! I have myself, been mesmerised by the lore of Elden ring for some time but more so particularly with Radagon, Marika and Miquella themselves.

I truly think Marika is misunderstood and Radagon is as well in his own way. Which makes me think that Miquella and his other form St. Trina may present very much in the same type of way in which their intentions may seem more grim by the player than they may have actually been or vice versa.

As it is, we are told more than once in several different ways that Miquella is special and quite formidable and the most fierce of the demigods.

I’m so excited for the DLC. Your videos are making it feel like Christmas or something as the hype builds more and more closer and closer to release! Thank you!

The Falconia parallel with the Haligtree was quite clear imo. In Souls games, like in Berserk, there are no clear good and bad sides, plus everyone has their own motivations...

I just had a dream involving Miquella (and for some reason he had beef with Rykard) so I hope it's sign the trailer drops soon XD

I know people like to say George RR Martin didn't "write Elden Ring" but that refers to the gameplay narrative sequence. Everything about what happened before the events of the game was written by him. I believe there is a significant amount of influence from ASoIaF in the game, and I noticed there are quite a few similarities between Miquella and Bran. That sparked my own theory that Bran will remain a child in the books as a consequence of connecting with the weirwood tree.

One thought I’ve been battling: I actually don’t want the DLC to reveal too much of miquella. The relationships, sure, but his overall plans and goals and motives i actually prefer if it is more abstract and blurry. The Cutcontent I consider to be invaluable in representing the developers approach to miquella ingame. I had Miquella’s true identity spoiled through cutcontent, with a cut NPC stating that miquella is Trina. In the basegame we don’t actually have any concrete confirmation telling us that miquella is Trina, and I think that’s particularly intentional, which is also why I think they removed the questline which would explicitly spoil certain parts of the game which can already be discovered through thorough investigation

Ofcourse, many people will claim “oh, fromsoft can’t do an in-depth character, look how little they explored miquella in the DLC🤓”

But if the basegame taught me anything… it’s that Miquella is my favourite major character fromsoft have ever produced… and it’s all because of how ambiguous his story, connections, and motives are in the basegame. I love it.

A simple example: I like how Miquella’s actual sexual orientation is quite ambiguous and, in some cases, don’t even matter to his plot (I.e- Malenia calls him “he” but he has a supposed alter ego that is feminine, and whom is riding sidesaddle on torrent. Like how Empyreans are traditional pre-godlike status often associated with woman in the Lands Between, but Miquella is supposedly a male Empyrean) - giving him a Godlike presence that many other characters don’t have that wouldn’t have been achieved without ambiguity, not even Marika. Miquella is straight-up a Michelangelo painting!

Of course, I actually praise your theory, and I actually want almost everything you say to come to life in the dlc - but in a way that allows us Fromsoft lore veterans to uncover Miquella’s story, rather than it being explained to us like a lot of Fromsoft NPCs (I don’t even want miquella to tell us why they’re doing what they’re doing, because that should be for us to figure out).

TL;DR - nothing i said is actually worth reading or important lol, incredible video🙌🙌

I remember Griffith having the power to manifest himself in a collective dream. Perhaps the idea was to have St. Trina be a representation of Miquella that exists in a sort of non-physical realm, a collective dream, furtively influencing the actions of those who establish a contact or covenant with him/her while Miquella's body was imprisoned, so St. Trina didn't even need to exist in the lands between (not unlike Godwyn, Miquella may have found a way to maintain an influence in the physical realm through a metaphysical transfiguration). In Berserk Zodd, one of the most powerful beings, challenged Griffith in the dream but was effortlessly defeated, Griffith cut his horn in the dream which had the same effect in the real world. A similar feat may be achievable by Miquella, to the extent that he might be able to alter the lands between at the end of his journey which could be manifested in a new ending, once the boss of death is vanquished. Although I doubt it will be the promised unalloyed realization, I think that path is gone, Miquella, as people knew him, is gone... It may end up being something more related to the St. Trina character, a sinking into a realm of dreams, where Godwyn and Malenia can find redemption and peace.

I wonder if Ricoh is a slight reference to Raikoh from the Otogi games
