Yes...that little chip is a problem. I would notice it no matter wher im standing on my property. Wouldn't be able to sleep at night knowing that corner was missing.

Am not a roofer, but have fitted several velux, I always end up breaking 4 or 5 slates to repair one…🤣🤣

I've done many slate repairs. The problem is that thin slate cracks when you walk on it. So, when you repair one, be prepared to repair 3 more on the way back to the ladder. Couch cushion sponges work but a few will crack. Also you can easily die on those slate tiles. You noticed only one little metal hanger holding it right. Guess what happens if one is loose and you step on it. Bye bye, see ya on the ground with the broken tile

Slates don't look old and that window looks relatively new so I'm guessing it's a replacement to make a customer happy, sometimes get hairline cracks In them
