"Modernity is not always the anwser... Sometimes antiquity is too" - one of my favorite quotes from that season and so applicable to our times

I met Robert Fellowes in Bermuda during the (last) tour of the Royal Yacht Britannia. He was terribly skilled at keeping things moving along, without seeming to offend people who talked for too long as The Queen moved along the line. 🙂

So many people she had to let go of in her lifetime. It's almost like being immortal.

'An extraordianry array of precious expertise'. It is easy to tear down a millenium of tradition in a moment, easiest when done carelessly, with only superficial understanding. Much harder to evolve complex systems rationally, carefully, constructively, with consensus... hardest to pick up the pieces behind careless or thoughtless reformers!

He was a truly excellent man. He died in 2024. I recommend finding out what his brother-in-law, Earl Spencer, said about him.

I do love a British series. Always easy to watch. No nonsense and carry on.

It’s funny that the Queen calls Robin a young man. He’d have been 52 at the time, and only 5 years younger than Robert.

It's odd to see anyone but Michael Sheen playing Blair.

You know they'd love to hug each other, but of course that's impossible.

I've watched only a few minutes of this here and there but it's amazing to me that the people who directed it do no know how one properly left the presence of the Queen.

I wish the Queen had asked him for a hug there. It would have been just right.

Bon chance getting a soldier, sailor, airman or marine to lay down his life for "modernity". Antiquity and tradition are what most people fight, and are willing to die, for.
