Climate change is already taking a financial toll on the planet, with extreme weather events costing the global economy $146 billion in 2019, according to insurer Swiss Re. However, economists warn the worst is yet to come. CNBC’s Silvia Amaro spoke to IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva about how governments and business can fight back.

Should have listened 30 years ago when you were warned that this was coming. Not impressed.

At first, I wasn't sure if this was a joke, but then I look CNBC International hmmm ok, I'll bear with her voice maybe shes from Europe, and I am sure I am not able to speak her language, and although I would have preferred a more suiting voice, I am guessing she worked hard to get where she is, she is doing her job right and giving us all the information, that's all that counts in the end.
( Just unnecesarly speaking my mind in the comment )

Imagine the big "i told you so" that scientists that already said this back in time that they are feeling now. I mean, imagine if people took Scientists serious enough like the "Nostradamus"...
but hey.

Very well explained, guess people are more concerned about the presenter's voice than the threat she is talking and explaining about. Good work Silvia!

Interesting how when talking about pollution they show nuclear plant steam stacks. Do they not know the difference between pollution and water vapor or are they trying to deceive

There's also massive economic opportunity in climate change. Green technology companies for instance.

How much CO2 has been the result of planned obsolescence since Sputnik? But climate scientists don't talk about planned obsolescence and economists ignoring the depreciation of Durable Consumer Junk.

What is NDP? When have you heard an economist say anything about it?

Nothing would be worse than a solar flare, it would wipe out every grid, wiping out all electronic money etc. At least something like this you would just sit on your investments to rebound if your smart.

I was in a shop looking at Kitchen Roll 2 packs everything the same make, cost, thickness. quality, price. I couldn't see any difference between
them except one had a green border, and one a blue, then I read a line saying the green were bio degradable >> I bought the others !!
