The waitress couldn't stand by and see a child abused. Benny, however, turned a blind eye to the kids abuse. It was heart wrenching to see Cody hug the waitress and hear him say thank you. Seems CPS knew about Cody's abuse already, hope they find him a great, loving home.

I liked the way the waitress was with Cody. She would have made a great mom for Cody. Wished we knew what happened to Cody and her.

As a Deputy Sheriff, I used to remove children from some of the most God awful living conditions you could imagine....My co workers and I would routinely receive update letters back from CPS a week or two later....with the exception of maybe two, out of several dozen, cases I worked..the letter stated the the situation was "unfounded" and NO FURTHER ACTION WOULD BE TAKEN. Mind you, most of the time I took parents to jail and children into protective custody....only to have a CPS toad tell me it was unfounded...Those people case manage by telephone, and not by inspections....TOTALLY WORTHLESS...

Prior to us gaining custody my stepson was abused and neglected by his mother… he’d show up for visits and I always hated having to send him back… after he came to live with us I’ll never forget his first visit to her… first thing she said was, “wtf are you doin to my kid he’s getting fat”… no you pos we FEED HIM 😤 I’m so thankful we were able to get him here with us ❤

Back when I was in high school a kid that age went through with that the same exact situation, it was me and my friends that saw the scene. The aunt was definitely on something, would tweak about people starring at her, being rude to the severs or shouting at her nephew to stop asking for something. Apparently he was hungry and she didn’t get him anything. The moment she got a phone call and went out the restaurant like 15mins, I asked if he was hungry and what he’d like to gobble up, he points like one of the big breakfast meal on the menu then he tells me it was his birthday . I lowkey order it and my buddies pitched for a special birthday meal too which was the cake w pancakes then I politely ask one of the staffs if we could sing him a happy birthday, they didn’t question it, she says “definitely!” cause they didn’t like the aunt 💀💀 that kid’s reaction was a wholesome him just clapping laughing and smiling when his food was coming towards him. He literally hugged everyone after then he noticed I had a Spider-Man mask in my side pocket bag (had it for a school play), tells me that’s his favorite superhero then I gave it to him and he hugs me and says “thank you Spider-Man!” One of things I knew I could never forget that day. In the end the aunt got arrested outside for yelling/ throwing hands to the people that were trying to go in the restaurant 💀.

As much as this needed to happen… there’s usually not a happy ending for kids who end up in foster care etc… we have all heard those stories too. How do we fail kids so badly time and time and time again.
