I'd like to own a 36mm yellow gold day date. I think these watches are timeless.

I have a white gold one, which I find more wearable than yellow or rose gold. Completely agree that the single quick set (which I have) is annoying!

congrats on the day-date! i figure that i too would wait till at least my 40s to get one. on a separate note, it is quite sad that we now have to worry about what watches we can wear out in cities 😞

Agree the 36mm is better proportioned than the 40mm version. More timeless too.

The price delta on a 36 vs a daydate 40 is one jumbo spread.

That being said, looks as though 40 MM daydates that were 53K (black-Denzel face Motif) and now are closer to 42K.

The DD36 is the icon, especially in yellow gold with hour markers like yours. I don’t agree with your statement about bulkiness Of the 40mm version. The Day Date 2 was a little bit of a weird in proportion. In our days, the 40 mm is the one to have . The 36 Became Way too small, on a man’s wrist. I own a 228238. But every taste is different, so enjoy your day dates 🍻

Great video…been wearing a 18238 since 2005 (when I was 31) and also have a 228206 9DD 40 plat) the DD is just soooo good. I have a bunch of others but I LOVE the DD’s.

Grow some grey hairs, and yes! Totally agree on that, when I was 20, 30. An outdoor watch is cool and fun enough for me, now I’m hitting 43. It’s a time to think about day-date!

Today I bought one from 1971. It’s my year of birth. The days are in Italian and I don’t have grey hairs on my head but on the chest…😊

Blasphemy and a very unpopular opinion I know, but I bought a "white gold" 36mm daydate in stainless steel from China and its perfection 😂 light, tough, looks great, if anyone asks if it's real I say no it's a rep. I love it.

I bought myself a 1803 Pie pan dial with diamond bracelet for my 40th birthday. I always wanted a gold and diamond day date.

I think in yellow 36 is the sweet spot while in a white metal I lean to the 40. I have both.

I had a gold Submariner (with Tiffany stamp, no less) 35 years ago, when I was 25. Gold Rolexes are beautiful, but very flashy. You have to decide if that's the impression you want to make. These days I much prefer a Lange.
Since you're Dutch, I'll add that I sold that gold Sub with a black face and Tiffany stamp in 1992 in Wassenaar. So it's probably still floating around NL somewhere.

I got my 118238 w/the 8+2 “Light” Champagne diamond dial for my 35th Birthday. Your never to young IMO to own the holy grail. If you can get one, get one.

Guess I’ll have to settle for a 36mm.

The 40mm are basically double the price

Congratulations on your new watch purchase, beautiful timepiece, wear it in good health

The watch is in Great condition considering it’s my birth year
There is one thing i see in all pictures of old day-dates, the end lug not hugging the case in both egdes but this looks good
And to answer your question about the age to wear a day-date, I’m 31 and i think after 40’s would be better, until then i will stick to my Submariner Date 41mm that i bought last year for my 30th anniversary

got my first day date today (no pun) and I'm 41 years old. It took 41 years to earn it.
