I'm currently studying microbiology and I'm even in my final year.. my heart is broken anytime I think of the discrimination between microbiologists and Med lab technicians when it comes to working in hospital. So now I have decided to just finish my first degree and start another first degree under nursing sciences

First of all, we Microbiologist all have to be aware of the diversity of microbiology and then pick a branch that interests
Then, the government has to be aware of how unregarded we Microbiologist are in Nigeria.
We can't continue like this, this all narrative of 'microbiology na scam' has to be changed.
I just finished 100 level as a microbiology student at OAU, and I'm so thrilled by what my discipline is all about 💚
These firms where we are so much needed all have to be aware of our significance and we have to be employed. How many more money-driven doctors or nurses, health professionals generally do we have to raise ?
Infaact in OAU, microbiology students are being called 'wounded doctors'. God I so much hate that name 😏

the problem is Microbiology is a discipline in Natural sciences BUT the students have failed to accept their fate..they keep dreaming about the medical field ...

well its quiet unfortunate that our highly esteemed field of study is being ridiculed, i was very optimistic about microbiology while i was in school, i could barely make a sentence with a term in microbiology, not necessarily because i knew it so well but because i was so intrigued and fascinated by microbiology and what could be achieved.
zeal collapsed after school when i realised that theres almost no place for a microbiology out there..
when the reason of a thing is not known abuse is inevitable, microbiology is being abused in nigeria because microbiologists are waiting for non microbiologists to define them: these people dont know, they think microbiology is limited to medical alone, its our duty to establish our recognition and enlighten there ignorance because micro organisms affect all positively and negatively

Yes I agree, there is a need to create more awareness cause if I had seen a video like this or had a honest orientation I could have prepared my mind after I got the admission. Me have sha discovered other callings 😅
Thank you Bibi for this 🎉

I wouldn't say its a scam though, however, anyone opting to study microbiology in Nigeria should be fully aware of its limited opportunities in Nigeria and hence brace up for the worst while expecting the best.

From my own perspective, the best way of challenging the status quo of Microbiology job availability in Nigeria is by proving them wrong that we're capable of a lot, yes I Kno, a lot of persons have applied for work in a lot places eligible for us to work but they were being turned down, but current graduates with the same mindset, Don't even attempt at all for applying for tis work opportunity out there.wl We forgot that noting good comes easy, it's all about getting your profile more interesting and attractive. Though currently, Microbiology is at the point of becoming a professional course. Bills have being passed and approved by senates. Another thing required is fund raising which is required in building a body of Microbiology Association. I stand to be corrected, I just aired my view.
