Yongnuo YN-622N Trigger Overview and Power Control Tips

Here is a quick overview of the Yongnuo YN-622N transceiver triggers. I go into some detail about controlling power with the triggers because it isn't that straightforward. I think eventually I'll write a detailed description on my website because I missed a few points. One thing I didn't mention: When I have the SB-400 attached to the camera (on top of the trigger), the manual power control from the camera menu doesn't work. What I do in this case is give negative or positive exposure compensation in the camera and control the wireless unit manually. I might make a video on that soon. Also, keep in mind that Yongnuo is will release a commander unit soon called the YN-622N-TX that will allow much more straightforward control of power levels, though that will not include a hotshoe connector. I'm looking forward to picking one of those up.

Update, I'd suggest going with the Godox X system instead:

Nikon SB-800 Flash:
Yongnuo YN-622N-TX i-TTL Wireless Flash Controller for Nikon:

How to stop AF-Assist (which sheds that ugly cross light) from the trigger mounted on the camera and remain only the SB-700 AF-Assist (that I have mounted on this trigger)?
I saw that is write something like: 3 seconds to keep pressing CH button ...but nothing happens, even if I press 3 seconds, less than 3 seconds or more than 3 ...

Well I got mine yesterday.  Worked on them all night long. My transmitter unit does not stay green like yours it goes into red standby mode.  It does go green when I push the shutter down. Unfortunately all I get is black photo's in iTTL mode.  In manual mode sometimes it acts like iTTL ... no matter what combo of shutter and apeture I get a good exposure.... then all of a sudden that stops working and it seems to be in manual mode as it should be with the orange light.  Very inconsistent results.  I have seen lots of video's and several people have the same problem I have with mine.  I have a D5100 with latest firmware.  Evidently, they shipped some units that do not work right so your taking a chance on them.

Could you help me please ?, my problem is that with my YN622-TX FLASH CONTROLER, and my speedlite YONGNUO YN685 has the built in radio, when operaiting from the YN622-TX remotely and, programmed in manual mode, and the zoom also in manual mode, when changing the zoom values in the YN622-TX FLASH CONTROLER the speedlite YONGNUO YN685 does not, but when I have zoom in automatic mode and varied the focal length of my lens works perfectly, I am doing something wrong?( Camera Nikon D7100)

I have 2 YN622n transcievers.. When turned on group and channel lights on 1st transceiver keeps blinking continuously whereas on the other transceiver when turned on group and channel lights go green for a second or two and then they do not blink continuously.
Transceiver which keeps keeps blinking channel and group lights fail to trigger flash unit when tried using test button on YN622N-TX and the other transceiver works well.
I tried resetting the transceiver by pressing Group & Channel buttons together for a while..but still 1 transceiver is not working..Could you please help me in this matter?

Does anyone know what mode the camera is in and the yongnuo in mode 622 or 603rx? I have the D500 and put it in flash sync spped af-c but they don't trigger. Is the one off camera in the same mode? I have it on i- TTL ch1 maybe I need the cable on them? Not sure.

The Yongnuo RF-603 has a trigger button same as the camera, that i use on long exposure or as remote, first click is to focus and the second is to take the photo .... I have no seen this button on this Yongnuo YN-622N . Somebody can confirm me that? please.

Neo Racer: everything needs HSS capability for that feature to work. Only high-end Nikons have FP sync and the flash itself needs FP/HSS sync. Now with the "super sync" mode, I think you only need a camera that is capable of FP sync and you can then adjust the timings with whatever device the trigger is connected to. Though I'm not certain on the details. The flash/strobe might at least need TTL capability, but I don't know.

Can you control the flash thru the Flash Commander mode menu in the menu system of the camera?

I saw a different video where they mounted an SB900 on the transmitter (unit on the camera) and ten just used the controls on the SB900 - they didn't touch the YN units except for set up.

thanks A lot .. ! it is a good video.

Maybe you can tell me something?
I thought that this trigger will be work in ittl mode.. but when I shoot in matrix-meting... and like to have ambient light too... its not working.
For examle: I shoot on the afternoon... there is some light outside... and I do like to mix it with flash.
Unfortunatly I see a big hard flash ... and NO mixing with lights. Did I something wrong?
