I am a truck driver (NOT a scrap metals hauler, I haul bulk trailers) and I can tell you that he knew EXACTLY what happened and he got out of there as soon as he could. I'm not saying that he knew that he was overheight, but he knew that he hit that pedestrian bridge and skerted out of there.

And that is why most drivers won't pick up the dumpster with debris sticking out of the top. In Colorado, the load cannot exceed the box and needs to be covered

Watch the same dump truck gets to haul away the scrap steel from the wrecked bridge & sell it to the mill 😁

I read on another post about this that this scrap company has hit bridges before with their loads sticking out.

Good ole metal scrap haulers, always can count on them for not being wheels down, on fire or too high

Over height scrap truck. They didn't check the height after loading it sticking out over the top .

The trucker in the Volvo semi got lucky that nobody was at his left.

There is a reason why you don’t load over the top rail, he found out the expensive way. 😔

I’d be surprised if any Scrap truck drivers even had CDLs. I know the ones in Chicago don’t. I watched one ride the emergency lane to skip 20 cars sitting at a light, just to blow the light, get on the highway and disappear. That was near dolton

I’m thankful that heavy metal band was there on scene to play that music for this video.

Hope they figured out who this was and made the parent company pay the bill.

Whoever loaded that end dump demo trailer just HAD to get that one last chunk on the very top instead of leaving it for the next load. Literally without that one rectangular piece sticking up above the sides it would have cleared no problem. It might have saved him 5 minutes off the end of the day at best…nowhere near worth jt. Of course it’s just as much on the driver as well in my eyes, and more than likely the majority if not all of the blame, legal, and financial consequences were on him. As a driver you’re always responsible for making sure your load is legal on weight, dimensions, is safe, and properly secured. He should have climbed up and checked the load and if there was any doubt about clearance on his route either altered that route, or if that wasn’t possible refused the load until they unloaded that chunk. To my fellow truckers: Remember to never trust what the operator / contractor says without verifying it for yourself and while customer satisfaction matters, if they’re asking (or telling) you to do something you know isn’t kosher….they’re not worth having as a customer because they won’t be the ones responsible when something bad happens.

Next time please use regular YouTube. The Shorts format is the worst.

I think he doesn't know what he's done, prolly thought he hit a bump 😆.

Never ceases to amaze me how clueless about load/trailer height so many drivers seem to be. Just watch a few clips from the 11'8" bridge to see that.

Something tells me the bridge will be removed or raised up 5 feet.
