Scientists Discovered a Mystery Layer in Earth's Core

The Earth has three compositional layers: the crust, the mantle and the core. At least this is what we've long been told by geologists. But a recent discovery suggests that our planet has one more layer. Scientists that studies earthquakes found one more layer in the Earth's inner core. Let's take a look at it!

What I always wondered was how do they research this? And how do we know anything is real considering that 100 years ago all of the people who lived back then believed something different.

How would they know when the fact is they can't drill through the earth's crust layer. It's solid. If we can't do that yet, no way would we be able to know if there is another layer. Amazing how they know everything about inner earth and no where near the same about our oceans

I asked this once, never got a satisfactory answer: If nobody has ever managed to drill past the crust, not by a long shot, then how is the earth's inner composition depicted like this treated as fact?

The Core is hot due to induction from the sun which means our core spins due to interaction with the sun's electromagnetic fields and the motion of the sun. Much like how when you put a metal pan on an induction stove the pan is not generating it's own heat it is hot due to the high frequency electromagnet underneath it.

Very useful and clear presentation, excellent for high school students as they are already meant to learn about a lot of this. Disappointed not much about the newly discovered layer inside, but not surprising if only newly discovered.

Uh, I don't know but... How did they find that mystery layer when the deepest excavation (Kola Superdeep Borehole) was only 40, 230 feet and it's less than half the distance to the mantle? How did they know about the composition of the layers (mantle, the outer core and the inner core) in the first place when they haven't dug that deep? And now there's another layer? Maybe I'm ignorant, but can someone tell me HOW?

I'm sorry but there was no mention on the whereabouts of the mystery layer deeper than the Earth's core. I'm not satisfied that was explained. What was supposed to have been the discovery that goes deeper than the earth core? I don't understand the video not enough explanation.
