Ingredients:
2kg Oxtail
Plain flour
50g Butter
1 tbsp Olive oil
2 Carrots
2 Onions
4 Celery
1 can Tomato paste
2 tbsp Plain flour
1 Cinnamon
3 Star anise
5 Cloves
2 Bay leaves
1 tbsp Light soy sauce
2 tbsp Dark soy sauce
2 Canned tomatoes
1 litre Beef stock
Salt and pepper to taste
Coriander

Yes! The Hainanese are part of the Chinese diaspora who turned up a tad late in South East Asia.
Luckily they saw an opportunity in the food and beverage space, and became known as the original caterers and kopi tiam owners in Singapore and Malaysia.
Quick to adapt the food of British colonial tuans and puans hankering for oxtail stew from old Blighty.
And as they say, the rest is (culinary) history.

Hi, do we need to wash the ox tail a few times under running water or to blanch it to remove any blood or scums first before cooking it? Thanks.

Looks good, but how many grams of canned tomato paste, and canned peeled tomatoes do you add? Also, should I stick with the video recipe, or the one on your website? The amount of cloves celery is different.
