I've used these anchors for years and never had any fail. One of the most important things when using them is to drill the hole deeper than the length of the anchor. This way, if you ever have to change the location of the part being secured, you can drive them flush or just below the surface

I’ve used wedge anchors for decades. I think some of you might be confusing this wedge anchor with sleeve anchors. Tapping bolts can be ok, if your concrete has soft aggregate, like limestone. Where I live, a lot of concrete is mixed using an aggregate that is very hard, similar to chert, and tapping bolts just don’t work well. Epoxy in the hole would make it stronger, but how much uplift do you expect? You have enough uplift to pull this out, and you’ve got other *big* problems…

The best way is to dig under the concrete an 18 X18X18 for a concrete pad to reinforce the 3.5 in concrete slab using rebar #4 and the 5/8 Sstb anchor bolt, pour the concrete and when concrete dry then you are ready to tie down your ABU post base 👍

you don't have to put the nut on and pound on the nut, that is why the end is turned down to a smaller diameter I have installed thousands of them

How about some epxy for that anchor? Even in warm climates, it's a good idea so that the water doesn't just sit in that hole.

The installation method is first class, issue is will the paving slab be strong enough to take the load, hard to tell the dimension& thkness.

use air compressor with a small tube to blow dust out from the bottom of the hole for better result

You forgot the bit where you put the resin capsule in the hole before hammering through thread in.

Lower the nut more so you don’t strike it with the hammer. That will ruin the nut threads and make it harder to bolt down .

Always drill hole all the way through concrete. When it becomes necessary to remove the bracket, you simply pound the fasteners down flush with concrete.
