Показать описание
A deck’s joists are the horizontal framing members that support the decking material. Deck joists may terminate at a beam or ledger, rest on top of the beams, or terminate at the rim board. Our training manager Sam Marcoux reviews the basic steps for making strong, safe joist connections. We will highlight the available options to help you select what’s best for your project.

How do I allow for the quarter inch per 8 foot slope when building a deck and using Simpson strong ties?

I want to build a deck roof of 16x20 ft. Can I use flush beam for roof rafters instead of drop beams? Is it safe and strong enough like a drop beam?

I want to start building a screened porch for my parents soon, and I was wondering what is better to install joists with joist hangers or to install joists over the beam using hurricane ties?

I had a friend that built a deck. And he notched the joist to the deck, is that safe?

How come nobody talks about covering the metal with about a half inch of Wax? Especially anywhere you are throwing salt down over it. It is cheaper than a can of exterior paint. On the underside there's not as much wind nor is there foot traffic nor is there direct sunlight... I don't know of another way that is better to keep the joist hangers in brand new condition over 30 years
