Charles "Ches" Clapper was born in Pennsylvania on December 25th, 1925. When Clapper turned 18, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps and was assigned to the 3rd Marine Division. Clapper's job was as a flamethrower operator, where he saw intense combat in Guam and Iwo Jima. Thank you for your service, Charles! Thank you, Kymberly, for arranging this interview too.
