comfort thoughts & meals | what I eat in a day (simple & easy) ft. changing mindsets & family views

These days, I've found myself carving out more time to go to the grocery store—something I'd rarely do because "it's out of the way;" cooking without any podcast, audiobooks, or jams; being far more present; and all the while savoring every bite of my meal. The totality of it all is an absolute and real treat. It also made me space to ponder and reflect.

In other news, I've confirmed my love for hotteok, and it has officially become one of my favorite comfort foods. I'd love to know, what's yours? 😌

So random but I remember discovering your channel when I was like 19 and messaging you on instagram, and you were so kind, I'm nearly 24 now and I come back to your videos every time life gets hard and things fall apart. Your calmness and gratitude always puts me back on track. Thank you for continuing to make videos.

As a fellow Taiwanese American it is so comforting to hear the mix of English and Mandarin you and your mom use! It’s exactly what my phone calls with my mom sound like 🥺

There's something beautiful about doing things without background music or sound as you give yourself the chance to embrace the silence and let the thoughts that you may have held back speak. Thank you, Rowena for a realistic and wholesome video :)

*I think the hustle culture that many productivity gurus used to talk about has been vanishing for good. I have been noticing a trend after covid where people are all about doing more of what they love and trying to live a balanced life* and yes! This vlog is so relaxing and calming.

There’s nothing like a chill and cozy vlog. It’s such a good reminder for me to slow down and check in with myself 💛

10:15 I had a similar thought about my older siblings knowing my parents. My parents were in their late 30s when they had me. I grew up hearing so many stories about them from my siblings. I recently realized that I'll never know our first house like they did, I'll never know who my mom was in her 20s etc.. As I grow into my 30s I think about her all of the time. I think about how she went through her days just as lost and unsure of the future as I am. I think it's a truth we realize as we age. 💜💜

your little monologue about stains and memories kinda brought me to tears. if you ever wanted to write a book, i'd be first in line to buy it on launch day, you have such a lovely way with words and you are just so soothing.

HI Rowena, it is a pleasure to see you slowing down. I have been with you for like 2 years, following your journey, was a super productivity train track and slammed in a wall a little before. It is good to see you grow and share that growth. Simple quiet pleasure, self care, and loved ones care. Yes, lenses, vision, perspective change along the way... for the better. Wisdom to you all. Have a good week, it is already Humpday! Love and Peace.

I'm in my early 30s and have been feeling what you're feeling about your mother and grandmother, but in relation to my mom and dad. Like, now that I'm an adult and I have an adult relationship with them, I see them for what they are: adults out here doing their best. And sometimes they share things that are weighing on their minds, or things that annoy each other about the other, because they know they can tell me these things and I won't hold it against them or make it about me, or something. And it's striking to know that they had many, many years of being friends and then partners before I was even born. I've known them literally my entire life, but they're their own people outside of being "mom" and "dad, " and that's what occupies my thoughts sometimes.

I love listening to you and your mom mix Taiwanese and English together the way my mom and I flow from English to Spanish and back multiple times in a conversation. 😁

I've been enjoying this change in your channel. I've been trudging through autistic burnout for a couple years now and these videos help.

That comment you made about thinking about your mom and your grandma was literally a conversation I was having the other day. I don't know how but you're always so in tune with everything, it's amazing. :)

Thank you for posting the behind the scenes of cooking and sharing your thoughts. I’ve been feeling overwhelmed with trying to play catch up with everyone else and this was very comforting for me. Thank you 💕

Rowena, you always come out with the video I need the most. Even though we are on different walks of life and are different in age. For me, you are the older sister or aunt I've never had. I've been watching you for years, but I recently had my first big graduation of highschool. I'm so excited to continue to follow you and put your words of wisdom to practice ❤️

I think it was really cool to watch you go back and forth with languages while talking to your mom! I don’t know another language other than English (I wish I did, I just feel like I never have time to learn!) and it’s just kinda mesmerizing to listen to!

I so desperately missed just catching up with you and seeing you live your life. I love everything you put out and I will always find such a great comfort in your content no matter what it is, but there's something so simple and relaxing about just watching you go through your day. So thankful to have found your channel! I feel like you've become a close friend of mine over the years. May you continue to grow and find peace in your life 💛

2 things
1. I love love love seeing this real side of you (of course we see a lot or your real side). But I mean the telling us that you're late for work and need to change. <3 I appreciate that so much. I wanna be more like you, it's sooo good to get a reminder that not everything is perfect and that that's okay.
2. Your mom saying understanding someone is about the effort you put in and not distance, made me feel really good. I have some friends living further away and distance feels like a big thing. But it's all about the effort. Meet up anyway, or call or play an online game together. It's so worth it :)
Thanks for another great video
