It was Proven that she lied and no apology, no contrition, she should be in prison.

Anything less than jail time is meaningless for criminals.
She should have gotten 10 years behind bars.

A man never recovers from something like this. The guilt & shame you carry for something you would never do is unbearable

She states she is a "financial slave for the rest of her life". I can't feel sorry for her for what she did. I don't know her financial situation, but I hope she has to pay something significant in compensation for the life and reputation she ruined on a whim. Frankly, I believe she should be doing time in prison.

I am firmly convinced that the Sentence for falsely accusing someone of a Crime, should be EXACTLY the same as what the Accused person would likely have recieved, had they actually committed said Crime. If Rape is 10 years- then that is what she should get for her false accusation.Anything less is not fair nor equal, she needs to face the same Sentence that he would have.

I remember a young man at University being accused of date rape. He was expelled from the school without being allowed to defend himself. It was found later that the woman lied and that it never happened. However, even so, the guy was not allowed to attend classes, and the woman was still supported by the various Womens groups on campus as a victim.

The court could've awarded $1 billion and it wouldn't change the actual damage done. Not just the career, but the family, community and personal torment that took place is irreparable. It's not even realistic that any amount of monetary compensation would be sufficient, and even wouldn't be actually received. What the minimum should have been would be a prison sentence comparable to what the accused would've faced if found guilty.
The courts simply offer no recourse for such false allegations and the utter destruction they cause to one's life.

Seems strange bringing up the past after so many years and women wonder why men are going their own way.

I’ll say it. You have 5 years to accuse your “attacker”, . . . after that your accusations will be considered slander. Period. 1982 are you serious? If I was the judge I would have automatically ruled in his favor.

false alligation like this should carry the same criminal penalty as the allegation.

False rape allegations should be sentenced to what an actual rapist would get for prison time

In the military and society, you are guilty until proven innocent. I was station in Korea in 1993. My wife started cheating with her old HS boyfriend and filed a Protection From Abuse against me. Which I was totally unaware. after a year in Korea I ended up in court, costing a few thousand $. I was found innocent. 4 months later she delivered his child. We divorced.

She ruined his life. He will always have his character called into question. He has gotten a life sentence and so should she. She should be doing life in prison for the life she ruined.

I blame the Army also. To pull a promotion based on an unsubstantiated accusation undermines the concept of innocent till proven guilty. Promotions are approved by the Senate. They should force the Army to reinstate his promotion..

This ruins it for people who have genuinely been assaulted.

Yes, she got the idea from reading about crimes by others and wanted to cash in….happy it backfired. She needs to be in jail.

What makes this even more egregious is that those that have been raped ... are less likely to be believed...the "Me Too" movement has done serious harm to the true victims of rape....
That false accuser should see some prison time and not allowed to blog ever again

FAFO. You made your choice and you purposely ruined a life for no reason at all. This is significantly beyond gaslighting.
