If you combine the party expansion mod with a mod called “sit this one out”, you can make it so that every time combat starts, whichever companions are set to “sit out” are immediately turned invisible and not considered in combat. They don’t even get to take a turn and no enemy will target them. Pairs perfectly! It might only be on nexus though

A few days ago, my wife was at the scene where Raphael plays chess with Mol, and we were laughing so hard at the way he, as a gnome, was now barely visible over the game board 😂

This might be the first time I heard Mort making a joke 😂

A dynamic party limit would be kinda cool for Larians next game. Depending on what location you are in or what "mission" you do, the party limit increases or decreases. In small spaces or during more personal quests you would have a smaller Party and in those big places or during "potentially world ending" quests you would have a bigger party and get to fight a huge battle.

Once I spotted a mod called Mild Mockery which gives you a version of Vicious Mockery but without the damage so you could just throw insults at anyone, anywhere, whenever you like! I didn't try it just yet but it'll absolutely be included the next time there's co-op.

"it's important to be the bigger person in this one."

While the bigger party mod messes with balance there are also additional mods that make it so the extra party members get "benched" when battles start and reappear right after, or at least there were last time I played.

The no party limit mod changed the whole experience for me, every where you go you have all the characters which opened every possible scenario in each moment in the game, made see more in a single play through

I just really love mods that add existing 5e subclasses. My actual D&D character is a half-orc bardlock, College of Eloquence and Fathomless patron, and it's been so fun creating her in BG3 and getting to play out this adventure with her.

The Devil You Gnome is absolutely hilarious, I'm gonna download that right now.
I also used a larger party mod for my first playthrough, but instead of doing what I normally do with a Larian game and play it on Easy to get to grips with the system and enjoy the story, then go back for Honour mode once I feel more confident, usually with an extra challenge on top, like "no elemental magic" or "no ranged attacks, " I just straight up started on Honour mode. I just knew I was gonna spend so much time playing the game that I didn't want to miss out on character banter and then feel like I have to replay it, get tired, and drop the second one halfway through.

Even with an oversized party, some of those encounters are *tough*, especially if you miss a few details like I did, or chose to not do things that give you an advantage like setting the spiders free in the goblin camp. You can see most encounters coming, but there are quite a few surprises that wiped me, especially in the Underdark.

Just so everyone knows, there’s a bug on console where if you have Starting Armor installed, you can’t respec Lae’zel at Withers. Lost a few hours of progress due to this.

I use the classic combo camera tweaks + WASD movement to have a more traditional (and IMO immersive) third person RPG experience outside of combat, the game is so gorgeous it holds up on closer inspection.

A Devil you gnome needs a variant changing Raphs clothes for Farquad from Shrek.

Better Target Info, as well as most of the other UI mods by the same author have earned a permanent spot on my BG3 modlist.

On the gameplay front, I enjoy the Magus mod (which commits the heresy of porting the Pathfinder 2Ed. class into BG3), as well as the 5E Spells mod for greatly expanding the spell lists available while still staying true to D&D.

If I told anyone about my favorite mods, i'd go straight to hell. In fact, I still might.

Mort making the Raphael joke is like finding a curly fry in your 4 piece nugget. I was not expecting it but it absolutely made my day

A solid 75 percent of my modlist is just "new gear" and randomizing that gear out into the world. In my opinion one of bg3 biggest strengths and weaknesses was all the gear being in the same place every playthrough. On one hand, great if you have a super specific build in mind. On the other, kinda boring, no real sense of awe at looting. Now I can have the usual set spawns of vanilla with lots of extra interesting stuff from chest\enemies/ect.

The Mod that gives Deities back to Paladins is also a huge favorite of mine. They are holy warriors after all lol. I also enjoy the mod that provides all comp clothes to you after a long rest. Don't have to wait til Act 3 to get everyone out of their default clothes and into something nicer.

I always like mods that allow me to get late game gear early. Even as a wee lad I hated getting awesome equipment just to never be able to use it. That’s a big reason i personally loved Skyrim so much; the flexibility to just use whatever weapon and armor I wanted thru the commands.
