I have my 14 year old granddaughter staying with me for a couple of weeks. I was astounded that she had no idea what a cabbage was. She now knows and what's more she likes it. I feel so sorry for the younger generation. They are missing out on so much. No I will not buy carbonara in a tin. It is so easy to make.

There is nothing better than a corned beef sandwich with sweet mustard pickles. I take my own coffee everywhere I go, I rarely buy one from a cafe because I'm always disappointed by not only the cost but the taste. I have a cup that stays hot for 18 hours. It's not a flask, though, and I take spare coffee with me to make another wherever I need another.

No I would not buy spaghetti carbonara from a tin. So easy to make.

We cut ties years ago and make all our own food. We cut packaged food out bit by bit until it's non-existant in the cupboard. Still shop and buy basics, but no pre-prepared foods. Home made pasties are THE BEST.

Fifty years ago everything tasted so much better. A pie was a true pie, a pasty to die for, and corned beef was a delectable treat.Nowadays, if its not home cooked from scratch its inedible.

Kids today don't know what they're missing. I love corned beef and cabbage, and hash. I miss suet puddings - haven't made one in years. What a treat. Oh - and that liver and onions looked good.

I loved corned beef and pickle sandwiches. I also loved potted fish paste sandwiches. Food standards have improved nowadays but in the 1950s both those were standard fare.
