I prefer a guide notch in the handle myself ive had fletching cut my hand once or twice and arrow burn from my carbon fiber arrows. But most don't on these style of recurve and thats cool but when i make one itll have my notch

All of the carving on a bow should be done from the back side very little on the front side helps maintain the fibers of the wood to make the bow stronger and have more tension i know your a professional and you make your bows the way you won't to
