Manhattan Edit Workshop Training Series: Importing Stills into Premiere Pro with Manhattan Edit Workshop Director of Education Janet Dalton.

Manhattan Edit Workshop is a New York Film Editing School offering a full range of basic to advanced manufacturer certified training courses, from the Avid, Autodesk, Assimilate and Apple products to the complete suite of Adobe applications.

Manhattan Edit Workshop's mission is to provide the highest quality education for filmmakers and editors. Focusing on both the art and technology inherent to our craft. We foster a "learn by doing" approach in an atmosphere where mistakes are encouraged as part of the process and the only "silly" question is the one that isn't asked.

Janet Dalton is a freelance editor who has been in the film and video world for over 15 years. She first became interested in film while studying audio engineering at The New School. Since then she has edited for PBS, MTV, CNBC, and Link TV.

Janet has been an Avid certified instructor for over 10 years and teaches both the introductory as well as advanced edit and effects classes. She is also one of just a handful of instructors who teach Avid's high end HD edit systems, the DS Nitris. She has taught editing classes at NYU, Columbia, SVA as well as taught industry professionals on-site at CBS, NBC and Fox. Her work is primarily short format though she is currently working on a feature length documentary. Janet is also an Adobe Premiere Pro & Apple Final Cut Pro certified instructor.

To those saying that she didn't show how to import. Press command I for import or if you have a PC it would be Control I. Go to your external hard drive and choose the pic you want you import. You're welcome.

This answered my questions and solved my problem simply. Adobe needs to learn to speak to the technical level of their audience. I read, and watched, their help on this multiple times and still didn't understand how simple the process really is. Thank you!

In CC Version 12.1.2 (Build 69) go to preferences/Media. Fourth dropdown menu is "Default Media Scaling". There are three options: Default is "none". Click the drop down to change to "Scale to Frame Size" or "Set to Frame Size".

Apparently Adobe has removed "default scale to frame size" in the latest PP . .. time to redo the video, unless I am wrong and missed something, of course?

"Default scale to frame size" looks very useful. I wish they had it on Windows...

Great video tutorial. You saved me a ton of time and frustration. Both my picture and video clips were too big and the scaling made both of them perfect without re-doing the whole project. thanks

I think I recognize that photo: it's the bottom of Middle Brother in Yosemite, with Rixon's Pinnacle in the center.

Is there a threshold to the amount of images you can import for one project? I am doing a time lapse of star photos and I'd like to make a video. I have 2300 images but I can't seem to select all and drag them into the timelline. thx!
