The inferior alveolar nerve provides sensation to the lower teeth and is a branch from the 5th cranial nerve, the trigeminal nerve (more specifically, the inferior alveolar nerve branches from the mandibular branch of the trigeminal nerve).

Hopefully your dentist has administered some type of anesthetic before drilling on your tooth!

I know that feeling too well unfortunately it's very painful when that air hits it especially during the winter when it's very cold outside that cold air gets circulated through the hole or in my case holes and that nerve hurts so so bad I felt like I was literally going to pass out I'm a grown 30 year old man and this pain was so bad I honestly to god wanted to cry like a baby my nerve was literally hanging out of one of the holes the dentist said it was his first time seeing that never exposed that much I can still feel the horrible pinching sharp pain shooting up into my head and around my whole top of my mouth everywhere when he grabbed the nerves with the forceps oh fuck man that was the worst pain I've ever felt in my life and I've been stabbed and shot yeah those hurt too but the pain of having your nerve grabbed with some forceps took the cake fuck that man shit smh ...never again..

Shouldn’t hurt to have your teeth drilled on you need more. You need more care and another shot from your dentist I just had some deep work in that area this week and there was no pain maybe a little bit discomfort but now yes, I’m recovering from that trauma
