GAMES ARE BACK

I can't believe I've never heard of this game. Clearly an inspiration for modern game classics like Dark Souls (with a shortcut going back to the Library) and Red Dead Redemption 2 (with a bathing scene), but also paving the way for the Netflix hit series The Queen's Gambit, because nobody really understands chess.

The wildest thing about this stream was learning that Andy played this game as a child, and then still chose a career in the video games industry. I know we throw the term "hero" around perhaps a little too loosely, but...

The whole bishop puzzle bit is incredible. Highlights just from that segment of the stream only include Luke being pulled out for what was basically a "this puzzle is really bad" message, Andy announcing that they were only just at the half way point when it looked like they were almost done and Luke's outrage at the lack of a scene making the whole thing pointless anyway. Love it.

Tbf, the library is the clue room so having every room lead there makes sense gameplay-wise. The less counterintuitive way would have been to just let the player character carry the book around and have all the hints including the maze map inside it.

I was driving a semi in the mountains of rural Arkansas at 3am-ish and had to turn the volume down halfway through the 3rd chess puzzle because I had laughed myself to tears listening to this! One of those high pitched, I'm running out of breath laughs and I started not to be able to see! I was hauling 43k too! This stream kept me awake and kept my attention off of being pissed off at my GPS for taking me the dumbest route possible. Thanks to you both for your sacrifice and service!

Just did a spot of accidental research and found a subtle link between the FMV classics this year: the music for this and Orpheo's Curse was done by George "The Fat Man" Sanger. He also had a hand in the music/sounds for The Rocketeer (which I can recall my father playing a lot...and getting mad at, lol), Zombies Ate My Neighbors, and everyone's favorite hamster-exploding sim Maniac Mansion.
