Notebook-B is a type of leather commonly called a “pull-up” leather. It has been hot-stuffed with oils and waxes to protect it over time. The color changes are appreciated for how they patina over time.

Hi, the way the cover "B" changes color when you stretch is called the pull-up effect. Some types of leather are known for this property - for example the Aragona leather.

I have several leather notebook covers I got from Amazon, ranging in price for eighteen to thirty-two dollars, but the best cover by far is the Lochby mini Field Journal I got. It's waxed canvas, but still cost a good deal more than the others. But the system and the cover is perfect, as are the Lochby pocket notebooks.

Unfortunately the stock is sold out and more won't be available until July, but they can be pre-ordered from the Lochby site at something of a discount.

I have B & C and like them both. B is made from Crazy Horse leather which I beleive is a full grain leather treated with wax and conditioner to give it that texture.

I just purchased a Popov Leather Pocket out of Canada and top quality. It is a loose fit for the Leuchtturm1917 pocket a6. The pen holder is unique as it holds the notebook closed. $60US on sale

I have C, the one with the elastics. From the texture, it appears to be pigskin. I will look into B, as I find slightly larger (A6?) notebooks to be a good size for me.
