I have used family cloths for about half a year now, (even though it’s just me) and I have decreased my use of toilet paper by at least 50%. I highly recommended the practice.

I have a decorative turkish hanging lamp with 5 pendants. I changed all of the bulbs to led. Long life led bulbs from IKEA, they have been burning for 6 years now, every day. Very soft light, and they hardly use any power.

I stayed with friends in India and you rarely see toilet paper there. There is a tap and a little pot and you use your hand to clean yourself and then tip water over your hand. Also I only saw a shower once and the electric on that was lethal. Everywhere else even in the hotels we went to there was just a bucket and a jug. I have used this method myself when my shower broke. I used a plastic waste bin and it there was plenty of water to wash hair and body. Everybody uses pressure cookers to save gas. So we can learn a lot from poorer countries.

It took me awhile but I finally bought a $25 bidet I bought on Amazon two years ago. It took 10 minutes for my husband to install. I bought a cheap stack of washcloths for drying. I keep a basket in the bathroom for the ones I’ve used and I wash them when I do the light colors. I would never go back now. It is so much healthier and a way of life now. With the cost of toilet paper, the bidet and washcloths paid for themselves very quickly.

Hi, I found your channel through Frugal Jo and am enjoying your video's. Still on the first tip of using cloth as toilet paper. So easy! Even if you just use a cloth wipe after you pee that's going to save you lots of toilet paper. The cloth can be cut up old Tshirts, holey socks, unused or thrifted bedsheets sewn into the size of cloth you want (anything absorbent will do) or simply bought cloth baby wipes or Gerber cloths. Just wash them the same way you wash your underwear.
I sewed mine up from a single flat flannel sheet that I thrifted for €1, 50 and I got 54 big wipes from that (slightly bigger than my hand). Just two layers sewn together, turned and topstitched. If you want to feel really fresh after using the toilet, try a free 'bidet' made from an empty shampoo bottle. Anything with the kind of top that you press down on one side so it opens on the other side is prefect, because the opening will be sideways and that makes it a doddle to aim where you need it. Possibly TMI but I'm a woman and I always aim&spray from the front. Got the tip for a shampoo or lotion bottle with the right kind of top from a youtube video years ago.
Greetings from the Netherlands!

I have an overbath shower and I have always used the water to flush the loo.... My son thought I was a crank.... 25 years down the line one water meter and 3 kids later he has realised why....😆

We are completely on tank rainwater in a typically drought ridden part of Australia so we are very careful with water. We have a dehumidifier to help us dry laundry in winter (we are on off grid solar and in a small house so the fact it serves dual purposes is great) and the water we capture goes into an outdoor extra 100L water tank for watering the vegetable garden and cleaning outside stuff. We also put the initial shower water in it.

Camped in my car last year for 6 weeks while I was in between appartements. Was expecting the adventure camping trip of a lifetime but all I felt throughout was homeless. I still think about it a lot and it still gives me the shivers of how horrendous the experience for me was.

Instead of buying a really expensive insulating bag to slow cook your food, make your own from (thrifted) woollen blankets, or make an old fashioned hay box to surround the pan with insulating materials. Also, slow cookers a quite easy to find second hand and don't take much electricity at all.

Bath water can also be used to flush the loo.
