This is by far my favorite art channel on Youtube for the simple reason that you guys just make things so easily learned and digestible- you just sort of explain principles (even more complicated ones) in a way that's super easy to understand and apply to your own work- for example, I hadn't even thought about the cold highlights/warm shadows thing consciously but it makes complete and total sense and I'm definitely keeping that in mind for future work down the line. I'm working on about a 50-page minicomic at the moment that I'm definitely going to apply this principle to. Thank you guys for doing what you do, it's absolutely invaluable ♥

A lot of my art is actually based on a colder feel, which means usually I stick to the singular hue of a color, and I do sometimes use that to my advantage to create points of interest by adding in more hue variation in places such as a clearing in a forest or a cave with light shining on a pedestal, so I'll note, hue variation can be used to better direct the eyes towards the main part of the piece. This is if you wish to do this sort of coloring style.

Also, this is by far the best video on cel shading 2D stuff I've ever seen, it's very thorough and simplistic enough to understand while not babying the audience.

I love all of these tutorials as it explains not only how to draw something but gives skills to the artist like observing and reciprocating things from references which i find very helpful! most art tutorials never give an explanantion to why things look certain ways so im glad that this channel does :D

I think hue shifting gives the lighting temperature, while not hue shifting implies that the light is perfectly white.
