ADDITIONALLY, if you create a new layer and use the paint bucket tool for each selection to create block-ins of different colours, you can use that layer so you DON'T HAVE TO MANUALLY SELECT THE EDGE ANYMORE (by using the wand tool instead)

I just.. block in my shadows with the pen in different values, then blend with watercolor. Same result and makes it easier to play with my values imo

This works even in designing death metal logos. I usually don't need to shade wiht these logos, but I use the select tool itself to draw the logo and then use the fiull tool to fill in my selection and get really clean lines for my logos!

@ytartschool how do you have such incredible control and dexterity with the lasso tool? This is my biggest weakness. I spend so much time collecting errors when I use the lasso tool.

But how do you get the selections to blend together so well? If i do it there is almost always a thin unshaded line or an overlap which is than very dark
