This man may be a billionaire movie director but he’s been down to titanic over 30 times and also the Mariana Trench. He’s honestly one of the most knowledgeable people on this subject in history

James Cameron is a great example of "responsible innovator"

He speaks like a wise school principal / head teacher. All you can do is shut up, listen and take the advice.

The man who studies science and is a good communicator as a great story teller. He can explain the problems better than others.

James Cameron has great passion (and experience) for underwater exploration, science and technology. He helped with the design and building of the Deepsea Challenger in 2012. He also has a patent on an apparatus that propels a person underwater. He certainly knows more than Rush, who had aviation and aerospace experience. More importantly he is not as arrogant with complete disregard for human lives. He is so pissed with Rush and his ignorance, he can barely contain himself.

James Cameron has been to the Titanic wreckage over 30 times, he designs and builds submersible vessels from the prototype to the actual vessel, he has a vast wealth of knowledge, experience and is qualified in his field. To top it off he's been to the Mariana Trench which is almost 3 times deeper than where the Titanic wreckage is, so this man is definitely the right person to speak on this topic and I trust his points.

Aerospace machinist / Engineer here. James is 100% correct. Sunday once I learned that the vessel was made from carbon fiber, I knew exactly what happened. Roughly 5600psi @ 3800m is an massive amount of weight pushing on the surface of the vessel.

It wasn't just Stockton Rush, there are plenty of Oceangate employees who share the blame for these deaths. Not the least of which is their legal team, who went after the engineer who tried to raise alarms about Rush's and Oceangate's incompetence. There needs to be a criminal investigation, and hopefully justice will be served on those responsible.

I scratched my head when I heard the CEO consulted NASA and Boeing. Flying is the exact opposite of diving

What a wild world. The director of the titanic just so happens to be one of the most respected deep-sea submersible experts and now he's giving interviews on a submarine that imploded on the way to see the actual titanic. And those guys made the same mistake the crew of the titanic made when they overestimated their craft. AND Stockton Rush's wife is a descendent of that iconic old couple that was portrayed in the movie that was also based on a real life couple?

I would trust these guys more on this subject than anyone else 👍

Condolences to the families of Titan's deceased. Contrary to the actions of OceanGate, this interview illustrates the requirement for due diligence when embarking on efforts such as this. James Cameron and Robert Ballard (shown to the right of the screen) are actual, true pioneers and professionals, like so many others, that accept the huge burden and responsibility of proper research and development necessary for these hostile endeavors.

Interestingly, Ballard, a former US Navy officer, and who was involved in locating the Titanic in September 1985, was doing so as part secret efforts to locate and examine two US military submarines, the USS Scorpion and the USS Thresher, not for the Titanic. The expedition, financed entirely by the Navy, required the team to first locate and document the two submarines. The search for the Titanic was secondary and only allowed after locating the submarines. Confirmation and other details of course, are available with a web search.

The fact that hydrophone sensor already detected the implosion and that company decided to withheld information chills me into the core...

It's so weird to be reminded that movie director James Cameron has this second life where he is a serious member of the deep sea exploration community.

He explained the problem in a very simple way that everyone can understand. Brilliance.

James Cameron is more qualified than the CEO on this matter!!!! They should have reached out to him for his expertise!!

James Cameron had a track record of over 30 dives to the titanic with zero casualties - I’d say he knows what he’s talking about
