blue is the titular protagonist of blue's clues, blue's clues & you!, and blue's room. the title character of blue's clues, blue, is a female puppy who communicates to her owners (steve, joe, and josh) through barking on the syllables and stresses of the sentences she means, which they can partially understand based on her expression and tone. every episode, she initiates a game of blue's clues, in which she leaves three pawprints for the host and the viewer to find the answer to a question. in blue's room, she can speak english. like many puppies, blue is very energetic and playful, but she is also very smart and friendly. she can get angry or sad at times. according to blue's first holiday and the legend of the blue puppy, blue is very different from other puppies, and not just because of her color. while other puppies like to dig up bones, this puppy likes to read, draw pictures, or listen to music. blue is described to be the smartest of all puppies. monokuma is a stuffed robotic bear and the self-proclaimed headmaster of hope's peak academy who instigates the killing school life featured in danganronpa: trigger happy havoc. he later takes over the killing school trip featured in danganronpa 2: goodbye despair, kicking out usami in the process. he later returns one last time in the hope's peak series, taking over the future foundation hq and starting the final killing game featured in danganronpa 3: the end of hope's peak high school. monokuma returns once again in the ultimate academy for gifted juveniles series, starting a new killing game, the killing school semester, featured in danganronpa v3: killing harmony alongside his children, the monokubs. the series revolves around an exclusive, government-funded high school called hope's peak academy which, every year, selects "ultimate" students who are at the top of their field, and one average "ultimate lucky student" who is chosen by lottery. however, when average student makoto naegi arrives at the school, he loses consciousness, and when he wakes up discovers that he and his 14 classmates have been trapped within the school. headmaster monokuma, a sadistic robot bear, informs the students that they will be forced to live within the school forever, with only one way to leave: murdering another student and getting away with it. when a crime scene is discovered, a class trial is held, in which the remaining students must decide amongst themselves who the murderer is. if the students successfully discover the murderer, the culprit will be executed, and the killing game continues. however, if they guess incorrectly, the culprit will be able to leave the school, but the other students will be executed. one of my favorite details is monokuma saying “neutered” instead of “spayed” because a lot of blue’s clues fans didn’t know that blue was a girl - neutered is what you say in reference to a male dog!
