The fact that a lot of people thought Steve left the show in 2002 because he died greatly perplexes and saddens me. Firstly, they made a episode with him saying goodbye as he leaves the house for college, and he looked absolutely fine - no sign of any illness or depression. Secondly, Steve make cameo appearances in the show at least a few times after he left as host. Thirdly, there was never any news reports or anything that strongly suggested he was dying or had ever passed.
