4 people killed after helicopter crashes into Houston radio tower

Four people, including a child, were killed Sunday night when a helicopter struck a radio tower in Houston, according to police. No one on the ground was injured.

The crash is being investigated by local police, the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration.

His chopper must not have had cable shears fitted to it. Most modern helicopters have these 2 small fins that are positioned above and below the cockpit, they’re designed to sever a wire or cable that the helicopter has made contact with and preventing it from hitting the rotor or snagging the landing gear.

Those 2 fins have saved a whole fuckload more lives than one might think. Sad to know 4 people lost their lives in a completely preventable accident.

And THATS why where I live all high cables such as high voltage cables ESPECIALLY close to airports are marked with orange balls so aircraft SEE them at night!
This should be a thing that’s mandatory in each country!!

Way it's difficult to fly at night. This happened around 7:50 pm in the evening. It's alreadý getting dark outside.. It was an "air tour" helicopter. Robinson R44 4 seat light aircraft Situational awareness. You HAVE to know WHERE all and any wire'/cables are including electric transmission and communications lines. Towers have beacons. Unfortunately support guide cables do not. RIP.... Condolences to family. This happens more than people realize.
