Ozark Season 4 Part 2 ending explained and series finale review. The Ozark Season 4 ending wraps up all of its tense plot points and I have thoughts on everything that happened. The ending scene, Ruth's death and the Byrde's final scene are just some of the standout scenes in Ozark Season 4. In this breakdown of Ozark Season 4 Part 2 on Netflix, I've explained it all. There are heavy spoilers in this video.

Ozark Season 4 is the final one of the Netflix series. Marty was abducted and tortured by the drug kingpin himself, Omar Navarro, who isn't done with his star accountant and Wendy just yet. Meanwhile, the Byrde matriarch was forced to do the unthinkable and order a hit on her own brother Ben to save their family from being slaughtered by the cartel. Ozark is an American crime drama streaming television series created by Bill Dubuque and Mark Williams for Netflix and produced by MRC. The series stars Jason Bateman and Laura Linney as Marty and Wendy Byrde, a married couple who relocate their family to the Lake of the Ozarks for money laundering. Bateman also serves as a director and executive producer for the series.

Ruth was dead as soon as she killed Javier. She tried to give the appearance of being clean but you can’t go back from killing someone. They even wanted the viewer to believe she would look the dad. In the end she was caught off guard and let her guard down. She saved Rachel’s life by trusting her instincts and I was hoping she had a gun at the end. I was cheering for her the whole series and only part of the ending that sucks. Was good to see Rachel again, great writing.

Excellent breakdown. The ending is deliberately designed to be uncomfortable and, dare I say it, dissatisfying, for a lot of the reasons you identified: there are no happy endings in this kind of world, and the cycles of violence tend to just repeat themselves. Was I “satisfied” by the ending? I guess not. Did I enjoy the ride the whole way there? 100%. Do I think the ending makes sense? Yeah I think it does, and with that in mind, I can feel myself becoming more satisfied with it. Poor Ruth, but really, Marty tried to talk her out of it and it went down exactly the way he said it would.

I feel like they ended it in a way where it’s really just open to being revived for another season or maybe even a spin off show altogether.

I would have been okay with the Byrde family disappearing if it meant Ruth lived.

Buddy's shotgun to rescue! Good thing he taught Jonah how to use it! And, did Ruth have to die? She would of been the perfect character for a spin-off series!

I think the ending was superb. It fit perfectly with the style of the show. We don't need complete finality for everything. It made 100% sense. Sorry that so many didn't feel as satisfied tbh

the thing i dont understand is what changed for jonah that he would kill mel in cold blood to protect his parents who hes had a terrible relationship with for the past 2 seasons

Jonah accepted who he was from season 1 a kid who would kill. They all came to accept who they really were after the accident. Wendy was the only one honest about it from the beginning.

I really thought that Marty would go save Ruth and become the new cartel boss

What a time to be alive right now to have both Ozark and Better Call Saul going on at the same time. Both should dominate the Emmy nominations

The sad part is emotion of feeling helpless and making that choice to not warn Ruth. Wendy and Ruth made peace. Marty and Ruth made peace. Jonah and Charlotte also cared for Ruth. Marty and Wendy made the choice Ruth would expect them to however at least she was told that it was Clair who turned her in. If Ruth would have been more cautious, stayed armed, anticipated Camille and possibly kill her in self defense. Camille was hesitant but Ruth gave herself no chance by bad mouthing Javi and her as his mother. Perhaps she could have pleaded for her life and told her that killing was retribution and that Camille needed Ruth as part of the deal to launder the money. She could have taken a page out of Wendy's playbook. Instead, Ruth was Ruth, wore her heart on her sleeve instead of poker face and thus she died a tragic hero

I was so sad Ruth died but when I sat back and thought about the whole season and I thought of the ending with that full circle moment of the child saving the parents by becoming a killer it was a perfect.

I rate a 10. There are no happy endings in the lives of characters like these When Jonah killed the PI it confirmed that the Byrd family was now fully ensconced in evil

Hated the ending. It didnt feel like a show finale to me. I didnt like how they basically killed off my two fave characters for no reason, and also left so many loose threats. They stablished so much that didnt go anywhere! I dont get what happened i felt so disappointed.

*jonah racks the shotgun*
Marty and Wendy smirks
All marty is thinking is that’s my son.

I'm on the fence about the ending, but with everything that's happened; there is no way anyone could have thought thus was supposed to end in a good way. Everyone was corrupt. Even if the Byrde family moved back to Chicago, it's not like they could just forget all the things that transpired before...it ended how it should have ended I guess.

I think all of the complaints about the ending is more about it ending then it being a bad ending.

No matter what, ending the story is a disappointment. Ruth dying is a disappointment, and not knowing what will happen with the deal the set up through Ruth and now she’s dead-could go in many directions now. It isn’t finite.

Yes, there’s more questions that could be answered, but the current timelines were tied off.

It’s just the end. Endings will never satisfy everyone and again, it’s more about it ending than how.

People just need to take the medicine and focus on what you got, not what you didn’t get.

Another ending that once again proves the cynical notion that Evil & Greed Win out over Goodness & Human Decency. Every tv writer should answer this question: “Why tell this story now?” No surprises. No hope. Zero catharsis.

I really need at least a movie to round off the last episode. It felt like a cliffhanger rather than abs ending to me, it left me with a lot questions that need answering.
