Bass guitars possess a huge dynamic range and produce powerful low frequencies. Designed for and by bassists, the Electro-Harmonix Bass Preacher compressor/sustainer pedal features fully adjustable controls that can subtly transform the dynamic qualities of a bass guitar or take them to the extreme. As a guitarist who generally uses set it and forget it style tones, switching to bass and finding 6+ knob comps was incredibly intimidating. This not only sounds fantastic, but the interface is way more friendly for those that just want to turn on a pedal and play. I'll have to pick this up!

Noisy pedal? Turn it around, remove the four screws and in the right top corner you'll notice a little trimpot. Turn it to the right and the noise will increase, adjust it to the left, look for the sweetspot and everything will be fine. Just like you would do with a noise gate.

I've had the MXR bass comp., the TC Electronic Spectracomp, the Markbass tube comp., the Wampler comp, and the EBS multiband comp. Out of all those compressors, with the exception of the Markbass, I don't regret getting rid of everyone of them for the EHX Bass Preacher. Are there better bass compressors out there? Sure there is. Alot would say everyone i got rid of is better. For my needs, this pedal is A#1 for me.

Working for DOD, Digitech through the 90s. I did my best to test and repair their stuff. I found myself thinking... Line 6 and the units I worked on, were about the same. Not so for Elect. HARMONIX AND BOSS units

Apologies for the q, but why is this called sustainer? Is comp not just squashing of frequencies. How does sustaining come into it?

I just bought Soul Preacher for my Active-Pickups Bass, and to use with my guitars (both with passive and active pickups, and both high output). What are the differences between Soul Preacher and Bass Preacher?
