Why… older people… love using ellipses… when they text…

Thank you so much for explaining this!! Ive been wandering for a very long time what it means to them. Its just not the everyday style im used to so its been quite anxiety inducing. Especially when it comes from a boss and its in every single message they send 😅

There are some weird, judgy comments on this video. 🤔
She's not saying it's an issue of whether or not people still use this form of punctuation; it's that older people seem to overuse it in casual messages and on social media, and younger people don't know what the heck is going on.
They'll type something like this:
"Hi all... does anybody know?... Where to find bread maker recipes?... Cuz I used to have a recipe for a honey bread... and now I'm wondering if I can make it in my new bread maker?... Thanks for any help..."
I personally don't see how this would save them any writing space, since they're actually taking up space with all those extra dots. 🤷‍♀️

I would much rather have people send messages with ... or just as one big block, than have them separate each sentence into it's own text like some people do.

I'm not sure where you looked into it but it seems that you don't understand it. It's used to indicate either a pause if used in the middle of a sentance or trailing off of used at the end.

It has been a commonly used punctuation in written English for hundreds of years. Why does it bother anyone? If you don’t like it, don’t use it.
