Farewell of Slavianka (Прощание славянки) Russian/Soviet Patriotic song – 1941

"Farewell of Slavianka" (Russian: Прощание славянки, romanized: Proŝanie slavänki~Proshchaniye slavyanki) is a Russian patriotic march, written by the composer Vasily Agapkin in honour of Slavic women accompanying their husbands in the First Balkan War. The march was written and premiered in Tambov in the end of 1912. In summer of 1915 it was released as a gramophone single in Kiev.
This version of the Lyrics was written in 1967, in honour of WW2, started for Russia in 1941.

* Slavyanka means "Slavic woman".

The Imperial Version takes us to a soldier leaving his home to fight for the Tsar, Was he a Cossack, a Soldier, a Guardsman? who knows

The White Army version takes us to the perspective to the ones always loyal to the Orthodox ideals of Russia, along with the hatred for the ones they deemed traitors and rebels at the country's hardest times

The Soviet Version takes to the view of the Red Army soldier that was there when Barbarossa happened, retreated back to moscow, filled with sadness for leaving the people behind to the german invader, and then, it caught up to him, this was a war of survival, he eagerly marched all the way to Berlin, it was a sacred war after all.

The 1967 lyrics version of Farewell of Slavianka and the 1941 version are almost the same except they add the line which the Soviet Union captures Berlin in 1945.

Вот что интересно, увы, украинский гимн рассказывает нам о войне как о самоцели, об убийствах, о смерти и крови. Да и впринципе их менталитет... А вот ни в одной русской военной песне никогда не слышал радости, или восхищения войной, мы поем лишь о мире после войны. Вот такие пироги, мда.
