Collecting points of data about us for the purpose of selling stuff is an an expansion of subliminal advertising.

We are being carefully influenced to live the life of unbridled consumerism.
I want this, I want that, has morphed into, I need this, I need that.

Providing suggestions of related items to purchase is subliminally feeding our addiction to over consume.
Marketers know that every customer needs to be moved from the basic desire to acquire into the blinding urge to splurge.

Consuming for the preservation of life, food, water, clothes and shelter is expected of all.
Consuming beyond those basic needs provides us with our sense of well being.

Sellers of stuff need to move customers sense of well being higher and higher.
To accomplish that they will mine more and more data about our activities.

If i ever get a TV in the first place, i might just search for a same sized monitor with multiple HDMI inputs so something like the Philips BDM4350UC. Probably cheaper (Although i didn't check how expensive a TV is at that size) and since its all extra media boxes and tuners these days i wouldn't miss out on anything. I just turn on the device i wan't and it should auto display as PC monitors usually auto switch to the working input. It would help with game latency to! :D
