Tom you are not crazy. I own a residential and commercial cleaning service and one of my customers is the Network Manager for a major wireless carrier. I had asked him about putting personal info. on my phone and he said you have to be out your mind to do that. They know everything about us. Ps I told him about your practice of making persistent usb's or hard drives with different distros for things we do like a banking only usb etc.. He responded with that is brilliant and he's going to do it in his own home. He told me to make myself as private as possible because the data collection is off the chain!

For the Telescreen technology, honestly they should have made it Free and Open Source, both the software on the client and server side. And it should use end-to-end encryption. I don't get why these corporate find it _that_ hard to just adhere to such principles.

The insurance company of a company I worked for offered money if we filled out their online survey.
One of the questions asked if I owned firearms or if firearms were in my home...
I stopped answering their questions.


Then I kept getting emails reminding me I hadn't finished their survey.
