I like both. Brenda's version with its instrumentation definitely has a classic 80's vibe - which is a good thing - while Mariah's version could pass off for a 2024 song if we didn't know it was recorded in 1998. But overall, i think i prefer Brenda's version because it makes me feel nostalgic.

If you grew up in the 80s, Brenda had that vibe that hits you in the right spot. Mariah is a rare diamond that goes beyond any limit and added her personal touch to that song. Discrediting Brenda because you are a Mariah fan is understandable. MC has an untouchable vocal ability but Brenda has the original title.
