Stop singing my part now baby is not correcting her backup singers, it’s correcting her technicians fail as the backing track was wrongly executed thus forcing her to go live!

Ray Charles used to do the same thing. When he was asked about correcting his band on stage, he said that the people had paid money to hear good music. If he didn’t fix the problem when it happened they’d spend the evening listening the mistake. Telling them after the show was over didn’t benefit anyone. Mariah’s right to call it when it happens.

Musicians do this all the time in a band, you just normally don't notice it, or it's done in a smooth way.
When I was in a band, if we got an intro wrong, the lead singer would say "Rewind!", and the drummer would do a quick solo, and we'd start over with a 4 count like it was intentional.

She has an exceptional musical ear, she has absolute perfect pitch, a very rare ability. A hugely talented lady.

You can't blame her for being true to her craft. Plus, it's her name and reputation that's out there. At least she does it tactfully. I heard Rickie Lee Jones do that a couple times...correcting a band member mid song. But she wasn't harsh. People make mistakes, and she was cool about it. She wanted it to be perfect for her audience.

I’ve worked with good singers that couldn’t keep separation on harmony. One band we had 3 good lead vocalists. If there was any second part sang it would have to be me on one of their songs. On mine we’d end up in unison cause they’d start following my vocal. At MC’s level it’s a no brainer that it’s just not going to work. She handled it like a pro. Nothing deva about this Imo.
