The Stranger (Clint Eastwood) is chosen to protect the townspeople of Lago from the outlaws that have been released from prison but he wants to make sure that they can defend themselves when he's not around. He decides to elect a new mayor and trains the new regiment but soon realizes that he might have his work cut out for him when the people showcase a serious lack of skills.
