You appear to be a guy who is not happy with less than 10 horsepower per foot on a boat. I had a a 1980 Johnson 115 TNT on a 16’10 Fiberform lazer runabout and that puppy would do 45 mph easy and I could crack just over 50 with the right prop and water conditions. And the tower of power mercury 6 cylinders were even faster. That 115 G2 appeared to push that boat along pretty good. What am I missing here?

That's a big heavy boat for a 115. I think the engine is going to work very hard with that boat. Might be better with a 150 only in my opinion
