Once I get my photos back up to the google photo cloud can I delete my pictures from my phone without having to worry about them be permanently deleted. I have a iPhone

I think the resolution reduction for free unlimited has been relaxed - I upload 42 megapixel photos to my Google Photos all the time and find that they retain their full resolution when you zoom to 1:1 - they are definitely not being scaled down. It's more likely they are being re-saved in a lower JPEG quality value (perhaps 85%) as opposed to be scaled down to 12-16 megapixels.

I have a problem with Google Photos that's only just started happening - I could upload hd videos and download those videos to my Google Pixel 2 - now the download link has disappeared. It's not a time related thing as I have one video that had been uploaded for over a 3 weeks.

One reason why you shouldn't use Google photos: because one day you will wake up and find out that some of your photos dissappeared and it's not because you deleted them axidentaly or anything. Otherwise Google photos is great but I am still contemplating whether or not the risk of this happening to me again is worth it or not.
