The technique you show of pre-loading the connector onto the wire works especially well for heavy gauge wires (with thick insulation) that can be a problem to slip into the connector if it's already in the pliers (which I think most people automatically do). Great vid!

It works but the correct crimper for Dupont terminals would be either the SN-4228B which has specific slots for both JST and Dupont or the SN-025 both of which fold the wings around the insolation of the Dupont as it should be instead of piercing it. The correct crimper for just the JST XH or RCY connectors would be the SN-01BM

I just purchased these. This video doesn't show much at all. It's not clear what part of the jaw to use for the different connector. And this obviously must matter because this video shows two of them being used
