The Trabant was a small car built for consumers in Communist East Germany. After East Germany ceased to exist in 1990, I remember seeing a whole parking lot filled with Trabants which the East Germans were unable to sell. It was a poorly built automobile, like much of what was manufactured behind the Iron Curtain for consumers.
