I can see that I can recognise proto-sino-tibetan more easily especially when spoken as a speaker of Tibeto-Burman language speaker. After the split between Sinitic and Tibeto-Burman languages it diverges quite a lot. Especially from Old Chinese to Mandarin and other varieties of Chinese.

Our ancestors must've been speaking a language that we can only dream about. Very complex compared to the simplified sounds of all Sino-Tibetan people nowadays.
