The odds of you wearing a star wars shirt in this review now that Rian Johnson is directing episode 8 is insane!

Rian Johnson ended up having to make this with help from his friends and family. Didnt want to change the movie to get money from producers that didnt get what it was about. Now the dude is making Star Wars, so cool

'Brick' is what everyone wishes their first movie to be. So well made.

How awesome is it that Chris is wearing a Star Wars t-shirt in this review? Coincidence? I THINK NOT.

I haven't seen Brick yet, I'm seeing Knives Out tonight.

Rian Johnson filmed and set this movie in his home town and mine, San Clemente, Ca.
Unfortunately, the film makes it look like both an interesting and deep place filled with interesting and deep people...to an extent.
In reality, it is just a crappy little dilapidated beach town filled with meth heads and douchebags, basically.

You to see Mysterious Skin, its another overlooked movie starring Gordon-Levitt, and it is fantastic.

Yes! I completely agree with this review. I saw it in the theatre in Toronto and loved it. About 15 minutes in a guy got really mad in the theatre and left - yelling about what bullshit it was and that he couldn't understand it - and at first you don't get their slang etc. But when it all starts to come together.. just go with it!

And Chris - review the Lookout too!

Seeing him wear a Star Wars shirt as he reviews the first movie of Rian Johnson, director of The Last Jedi that would come out 5 years after this review came out, is funny AF

@CaliCriticReviews thanks man, actually someone else told me about the cowboy bebop stuff but it's all cool.

Not only is he wearing a star wars shirt for Rian Johnson but he also has the inception poster right behind him. This movie man

The writer/director of Brick, Rian Johnson, is doing another movie with Joseph Gordon-Levitt called Looper. It involves time travel and co-stars Bruce Willis as the future version of Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character.

Surprisingly good. The way story unfolds, one cannot take their eyes off the screen.

This is one of my favorite movies of all time. It is the most perfect Noir movie I've ever seen. When I try to describe it to people to watch, it always comes out flat. It's almost like a fantasy from the minds of the people in the movie, but it feels so authentic and believable. It's fucking brilliant.

The fact that he wore an Empire Strikes Back shirt in this review of a Rian Johnson film, and he just reviewed The Last Jedi, also by Rian Johnson... everything came full circle

You are the ONLY movie reviewer that I trust. I only watch your reviews. Based on your evaluation of Brick, I'm watching it tonight!

Yo, chris, thanks for reviewing this movie. More people need to know about it. Guess you saw my response to your "Project X" review question about favorite high school movies.
Keep up the good work, dude.

I would go as far as to say that Brick is one of my favourite movies ever. The director, Rian Johnson's next movie Looper comes out in September and it looks like a gamechanger.
Review SUPER. It's mad and I'd love to hear your thoughts, great video.

I totally agree with you about JGL. I've been a fan of him since before he got really big and it's great to finally see him get recognized for his talent but he's still vastly underrated. I seriously hope he gets an oscar someday. He's very talented.
