Man this was touching and very very deep. There are so many people walking around longing for answers as to why one or both of the parents weren’t in their life for what ever reason. Stuff like this can be very damaging to a child growing us in this world. I believe every child wants and long for the love of both parents naturally. I am glad that this story came to a some what happy ending.

It is just amazing how we adults mess kid's lifes. I am 50 today, and was the only son from my father's marriage ( by law ) with my mom. He abandon us when I was less than 1 year old. He went to have "other families" I saw him again when I was 5 years old for a couple of weeks. Then I saw him for the last time, the day after my 7th. Birth day ( 2 years after ) . I never ever saw him again. Not even a letter, a chistmas card, forget about a single cent. I do have hard feelings towards him. My mom is already dead, and I don't think He is alive. To tell you the truth I have always missed to have a father. Unfortunatelly, I got divorced when my oldest kid was 8 and my daughter 5. Now, she is 18 and my son 21, but I have never ever stop helping them out. I do not see them prety often now, since they live in a different state. But I missed them every day. Ever notice how movies make it seem like families are so wonderful and it's your salvation and all that?

People say that movies are strictly fantasy and it can never be reality and that's why they are movies.

I come from an extremely broken family that is very hateful and harmful to each other, I never found peace and was able to have my own life until I moved four states away from everything I've ever known.

In reality, I found most fantasy stories in movies to be much more possible than anything related to family in movies.

I honestly don't believe there's a such thing as a family that really cares for each other, families just kind of stick around each other and use each other to survive

The father did not have to "let his wife force him to abandon the other family." He could have said, "I'm sorry you feel that way honey, but I will not abandon either my daughter or my son. Please don't try to punish the children for my sins/mistakes/etc." Obviously, he had no strength of character or will, in my opinion. In my warped and twisted little world, the babies come first, last, and always.

My father did the same thing. Had 2 families. I had no idea I had other brothers and sisters until I was like 10. My dad brings 2 kids home for Christmas. They're in my house for 3 days or so.

One day I ask my dad who they were. He said my brother and sister.

I had no clue. I liked at my mom then my dad. I couldn't figure out how I had 2 family members my mom didn't birth.

The shock when it hit me. How did this man bring in other kids to his current wife's home.

We all dealt with it. 6 kids total. I lost my oldest brother shortly after my father passing. We all love each other, deal with family struggles and move through this the best way we know how.
