Signed up to a bushcraft course to address another ‘weak link in my chain’, by reconnecting me with the skills our ancestors mastered and passed down through countless generations. In this video, I started a fire using one of the oldest methods known - the bow drill. This technique, uses just a bow, string, and a bit of determination to create a fire.

Most of us today have grown up without these skills - starting a fire, purifying water, butchering for food, and building shelter. But they’ve been crucial for our survival as a species. Hopefully you’ll never need to use these skills, but it’s good to start your self-sufficiency journey to learn them for peace of mind.

Covid taught us that it only takes a few days or weeks for people to start panicking. So if you want to be a leader and be responsible for others then I learned that having contingencies for every outcome brings peace, even if it’s a lot of work.
